The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Campaign

Red Crayon recently completed a social media re-launch of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' book series by Steig Larson to coincide with the launch of the film at the beginning of  2012.

With the release of the film in cinemas around Australia, Red Crayon was employed to work with Macmillan Publishers to create a campaign that would ignite interest in the The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' series of books following the launch of the film. The purpose of the campaign was to  entice and encourage customers to purchase the books to find out what happens next in the trilogy.

The campaign was launched using a Custom Facebook Application that asked entrants to send an email to 5 of their friends in order to go into the draw to win Gold Class cinema tickets. Utilising the film's campaign imagery Red Crayon created a design that encompassed the look and feel of the newly released film, as well as the book series.

To promote the competition Macmillan ran a series of Facebook advertisements that directed people towards the Macmillan Facebook page. The number of fans liking and engaging with the Macmillan Australia page has increased by 500 since the beginning of the campaign.

About the client:
